The Dollars and Nonsense of Hair Restoration Financing

November 17th, 2009

Anyone can say “Affordable Financing”…but “Approval Rate”
is the part they don’t tell you about.

In the past week alone, I’ve spoken to no less than a dozen guys who just scheduled their first hair transplant appointments thanks to financing programs with MHR. That doesn’t sound like anything to write home about, does it? Well, these were all guys that shopped MHR’s competitors and had been turned down for financing with them. They claimed to have “Affordable Financing” but their applications were rejected. Days later they applied with MHR who has multiple financing partners, and they were approved. And that’s just the beginning. In the past month, 80% of the guys all over the country who have applied for financing with MHR have been approved. (Click here for an easy online Financing application)

Throughout various entries on my blog, you’ve heard me talk about how re-growing your hair is one of the best investments you can ever make in yourself. Whether for your career or for your personal life, you simply can’t place a value in the added confidence, swagger, and edge you receive from looking like you did a decade ago. And these financing programs combined with MHR’s pricing—the most competitive in the industry—has made this investment even smarter.

MHR has been able to achieve these high approval rates by working with 2-3 financing companies — each with unique approval models which on a whole complement the various needs of our customers. The Director of Patient Education and Business Manager at your nearest MHR office has been trained to align each customer with the financing company that has the strongest program to meet their unique individual needs. And the best news is that it all can start during your complimentary consultation. So if you’ve made the decision to improve your physical appearance and now you need a little help improving your financial appearance, then schedule your free consultation today with at your MHR office. Because after all, nothing should stand in the way between you and looking like you did 10, even fifteen years ago.

Objecting to Hair Loss Newest MHR All Star – John White

October 12th, 2009

In his own words, Attorney John White recounts his experience with hair loss and how he defended both his age and image by re-growing his very own hair naturally and permanently with MHR.

1. Discuss when you first began noticing your hair loss and your reaction to the sparse area.

I noticed in my first year of law school. Studying late one night, I looked in the mirror, and thought, “Am I imagining a receding hair line,” or am I just delirious from sleep deprivation—unfortunately neither—my hair line was starting to recede.

My reaction was disbelief. I was only 24! I was too young to be losing hair. I thought this only happened to “old people”. I was not happy.

2. As you began dealing with hair loss, what upset you the most?

The change in appearance. The “baldy” comments. Looking older than my actual age, even though I was taking care of myself.

3. In what ways did your hair loss limit your lifestyle?

None really…just was more conscious of my looks, in a negative light.

4. Discuss the emotions you felt on a daily basis when trying to deal with your hair loss.

Frustration, for several reasons: wanting too look like I used to when I had hair; seeing my friends who still had hair, and looked younger.

5. Discuss other treatments you tried to help solve or hide your hair loss.

None…had not heard, nor was I convinced, of anything that truly worked like MHR methods.

6. Discuss the origins of your hair loss (i.e. genetic, hormonal, disease, radiation, scarring, etc.)

Mostly genetic, with some stress induced hormonal component adding to it.

7. How do you feel about your results and how have your results changed your life, self-esteem, and lifestyle?

Extremely satisfied with the results. I constantly hear how young I look for my age—something I was not hearing before the procedure. Of course, hearing this, makes you “feel” younger, with more energy, vitality, and a more positive attitude.

8. There are many doctors who perform hair transplant surgery. Of all the hair restoration practices, why did you choose Medical Hair Restoration?

Reputation. I also had the chance to see others who had been treated by MHR, and personally seen the fantastic results. I truly could not believe the change in their looks after having the procedure performed. Seeing is believing.

9. Do you have any further comments you would like to add?

I am pleasantly surprised by the pride and concern that Drs. Leavitt and Barusco take in their work. They genuinely seem interested in my results, and continue to follow-up with how things are going, well beyond the normal realm of my expectations.

From Investment Banker to Investing in himself. Newest MHR All Star – Steve Comito

September 9th, 2009

After years and years of nagging, I am very proud to announce that my very good friend, Steve Comito, last year finally decided to get hair restoration with MHR and begin re-growing his very own hair naturally and permanently. And now we have the photos to prove the “Wow!”. And rather than me tell you about his story, I thought I’d let him tell you his trials, tribulations, and most of all, his triumphs.

Image is nothing…without the hair.

By Steve Comito

“I began noticing my hair loss at the age of 24. Given I was noticing significant loss at such a young age; I began to wonder if it was something other than genetic hair loss. Also, the rate of my hair loss was very accelerated, so it became very noticeable, very fast!

The most pivotal and powerfully negative moments came years later when I was a year out of Grad School and working for an investment banking firm in NYC. Image was a very important part of my job and no matter how well I dressed, my hair loss always made me feel like it was holding me back. And it was starting to really affect my lifestyle. I would never go out directly after work. I would have to go home to change into something that was compatible with a hat!….I was almost never seen outside of work without wearing a hat. And on a day-to-day basis, it always seemed as if everyone was looking at my hair loss and I looked much older than I actually was. As a result, I spent an inordinate amount of time researching and looking for products, medicines, etc. that could help me get my hair back! I tried various shampoos, creams, vitamins and eventually went for a hair system. None worked and none fit my lifestyle. From there, I took the logical next step and ended up shaving my head and did so for about 15 years, until Bobby finally convinced me to do what I should have done all along.

The results I obtained through my hair restoration surgery through MHR have been nothing short of amazing. After shaving my head for so long, I forgot what it felt like to look in the mirror and have a hair line! I look younger, and most importantly, I feel and look great when I put on a suit!

After speaking with the Consultant and then meeting with the doctor, not only was my comfort level very high in dealing with them, but they were very honest with me in what to expect from hair restoration surgery. My only wish is that I’d done it years sooner.”

MHR All-Star, Tony Casillas, gets second hair restoration procedure to gain density and thickness.

Tony Casillas is best known for being a former player in the National Football League from 1986 through 1997. He was a defensive tackle who helped the Dallas Cowboys win consecutive championships in Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII. While at the University of Oklahoma he helped win the 1985 NCAA National Championship. He also won the Lombardi Award in 1985 and was the 1985 UPI Lineman of the Year. In 2004 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

And today, Tony is continuing his notoriety as one of the many MHR All-Stars who tackled their hair loss and re-grew their very own hair naturally and permanently. In early August, Tony received his second hair restoration procedure with MHR in, where else, Dallas (Irving). His goal was to gain even more density and thickness in the temporal and crown areas. As the months progress, I will update the blog with new photos showcasing his world class results. Looks great, Tony…now go long!

Newest MHR All Star: Duron C.

August 12th, 2009

How old would you say Duron is? 25? 30? 35?

Hailing from Texas, and as you can see, Duron has phenomenal results. The density of the crowns and completely natural flow of the hairline are flawless. As I always try and reveal here on the Bobby’s Story blog, below is a personal glimpse into what Duron was feeling when he was experiencing hair loss and how he feels now that he has re-grown his hair naturally and permanently!

Duron’s testimonial:

BEFORE

“I was about 30 when I first started noticing the crown of my head to be thinning. I really freaked out thinking how bald I would potentially be. As I began dealing with hair loss, what upset me the most is the fact that I really did miss my long thick hair that I had for most of my life and also touring as a musician in the 90’s. It was thinning tremendously to the point that I couldn’t see myself growing long hair anymore with my crown totally balding. It was hypocritical in my opinion. I didn’t feel comfortable hanging out with my long haired musician friends. It just didn’t feel like I was “one of the guys” anymore. I felt embarrassed. I felt depressed and alienated from my current circle of friends. I felt like my “identity” was just literally washing down the shower drain. I felt helpless and like I didn’t know what to do to stop the downward spiral of hair loss.

AFTER

I am totally elated at my results. I can now feel comfortable around my other “hair” friends. I feel like I now have a new lease on life. Myself esteem has definitely improved. Of all the many other hair restoration practices, I chose MHR because of the integrity and results that I had heard about from other previous patients. The gentleman that I originally spoke with at MHR took a picture of my balding head and gave me HOPE. That was all I needed to hear in order to make the next step to saving my self esteem. I wouldn’t go anywhere else to have the procedure performed. Once you have had the best doctors. Why settle for any less than the extremely high standards of Medical Hair Restoration.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Oh, and by the way…Duron is 44!

Newest MHR All-Star: Christopher Knight, aka Peter Brady

July 9th, 2009

I’m very proud to announce that Christopher Knight, aka Peter Brady, has selected MHR to help him re-grow his very own hair permanently and look 10-15 years younger. Known throughout the world for both his childhood role on the Brady Bunch and currently as himself in the reality hit cable series “My Fair Brady”, Christopher is now faced with something the cameras can’t hide – hair loss. Like millions of men, he’s experiencing diffused thinning in both the temporal and crown areas of his scalp. His hair transplant procedure is on Friday July 10th and I will update you as to the progress of his re-growth, and possibly see if Christopher himself can blog an entry or two along the way. Stay tuned!

Saving you from Shaving

June 8th, 2009

I respect bald men, truly bald men…those that are Class 9’s and beyond and don’t let it affect them — because looking and being bald is their hair style. They live with it, don’t let it affect their personality because they don’t have the choice to re-grow their hair naturally and permanently with hair restoration. But what I can’t understand is the amount of guys who shave their heads, sport the bald style, and all too cover up their recession or thinning areas.

I was arguing about this with my friend Robert the other day – a 44 year old, progressing Class 5. He suffers from heavy hair loss in the temples and crown, and instead of doing something about it, he shaves his head. Honestly, it doesn’t suit his personality or looks. It makes him look like a wanna-be, trendy guy – and furthermore, his head is now completely shiny which even his family has commented on how it looks awkward and doesn’t suit his laid-back persona.

Because she knows full well that I used to be bald and that I re-grew my own hair with MHR, Robert’s wife asked me to talk with him about considering hair transplantation. After volleying for at least 30 minutes about how he’s fine with his hair now, and how he thinks he looks even younger with a shaved head, he disclosed that he was really bothered by the fact that he was losing his hair…however he didn’t want to be perceived as a guy that was vain…and that cared that he was losing his hair. I recall this feeling all too well. It’s a sort of Hair Loss Catch 22. As a guy who was watching his hair collect in the shower drain day after day, I knew my confidence was dissipating with each look in the mirror. However I also felt like it was un-masculine to let it be known that I got a hair transplant procedure because that would broadcast the fact that underneath all the muscles and machismo, I was actually vain and concerned about my appearance.

When I reiterated to Robert that the hair grows in very slowly and then after 9 months the transplanted hair is completely undetectable, he started to get it. This transition period actually works incredibly in our favor. It’s not like one day we’re bald and the next day we’re like a gorilla. The re-growth period happens in a slow progression (yes, just like when you’re losing) so the results occur naturally and unnoticeably – although don’t be surprised when people take extra long looks and think you’ve lost weight, gone on vacation, etc. etc.

My Hairstyle

I remember the feeling of losing my hair and feeling like “I can live with it”. But the honest answer was that I could not. Believe me, I studied bald guys and I just couldn’t imagine myself with no hair or a shiny shaved head. That thought was with me all the time until I made the decision to talk to the guys at MHR. Back then I felt bad, out of shape, constantly looking in the mirror to check if my hair loss has stopped or become even worse. But I was fooling myself – just like Robert was fooling himself. The result of our long conversation was that he subsequently made an appointment to visit with the Director of Patient Education and the Doctor at our local MHR office. He now knows why he is losing his hair, how much progression he will experience, and how much he can re-grow with only one procedure. He and his wife have talked it over and he has made an appointment in July to get a hair transplant from MHR. Obviously, he is stoked. And what’s awesome for me is to hear that his feelings of excitement are genuine – unlike his feelings when he tried to explain that he like the way he felt with a shaved head. Guys, if you think you’re saving yourself by shaving your head, you’re only drawing more attention to your hair loss and you’re doing nothing to stop the progression.
