MHR All Star patient, Dwight Evans, and myself at the David Maus Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

At this annual Charity Golf Tournament I was able to reunite with some of the famed sports celebrities that have become MHR All Star patients throughout the years. Pictured here is my good friend Dwight Evans, an 8-time Gold Glove winner who played for the Red Sox and Orioles. Throughout his 20 year career, Dwight came to be known as one of the best defensive outfielders of his day.

Maceo Morris, son of world famous running back Mercury Morris of the undefeated 1972 Dolphins, received his hair transplant procedure on May 18, 2009. Maceo’s hair restoration procedure went flawlessly and at approximately the 6-7 month mark of his re-growth cycle, I will post his After photos on the blog showcasing his exciting results.

Fight and Get Your Hair Back!

Monday, May 25th, 2009

"Мan will not only endure, but he will prevail“. I come upon this quote from William Faulkner, Nobel prize-winning author. It is a marvelous quote, but the word Faulkner missed, I think, is "fight".

When I was losing hair, I prevailed and got my hair back. But it didn’t go without a fight. I endured my share of life with lack of self-esteem and I struggled with my alopecia. My life is valuable. It is the most serious business I have dealt and I am dealing with.  :)

That’s why I decided to get hair transplantation surgery. I wanted to live by my rules and not to feel depressed or worried about my hair. I wanted to think about different hair style, not lying myself with wearing hats to cover my hair loss. Faulkner’s inspiring quote made me think about the age in which we live in. Men, as well as women, have been losing hair for so long… But we found a way to get our hair back. We prevailed. We found technological solutions to our life problems.

It may be REVVup Hair Therapy for those with hair loss categorized by Norwood scale as 1 or 2, or in other words not severe hair loss that is in early stage. Or it may be a permanent solution like hair transplantation for those who have already lost their hair. I was in this category. I was bald at the crown of my head. And hair loss was still continuing. My falling hair was making me feel depressed and my lifestyle was changing to something I wasn’t comfortable with.

Hair Loss Fight

But the decision to restore my hair was a long one, although now looking back at it, I wish I did the hair transplantation surgery earlier. Back then I struggled to get myself motivated about that permanent solution. The first step was to get informed about alopecia. I consulted the doctors at MHR. Their advice and expertise gave me more confidence and motivation to undergo the surgery that changed my life.

And you know what? Thanks to improved use of follicular unit hair grafts and thanks to the doctors at MHR I really got my hair back!

We live in a wonderful technological age that we created. No matter what we are faced with we will prevail, as Faulkner says in his truly inspiring Nobel Prize speech. But not without a fight, not without a motivation to change our lives from uncomfortable to the lifestyle we want.

Start thinking about your hair. Go to Medical Hair Restoration’s site, schedule free hair loss consultations and learn how to restore your hair, get the free DVD, and meet the people who have changed their lives and start living yours as someone who has stopped enduring. Start living as one who has prevailed. Go and get your hair back!

Selecting a hair restoration physician and company

Choosing a doctor for general medical care is difficult. Selecting a doctor who will permanently change your appearance is even harder. Compound that selection process with the information–and sadly often times disinformation on the internet—and picking a Hair Restoration Surgeon can feel overwhelming.

Hair restoration is a unique field of medicine for any number of reasons. To truly accomplish a world class hair restoration requires a highly trained team of individuals from start to finish. The doctors, nurses, and assistants all need to work in unison to create a work of art. The fact is, most residencies (where doctors specialize in their chosen field) do not teach hair restoration. It is so specialized; doctors need to seek out the training.

Some Doctors will take a weekend course, but others, recognizing the inadequacy of that approach will choose another path. At MHR the path to becoming a full time Surgeon is not an easy one. Every single MHR doctor is qualified to sit for, or has already taken the American Board of Hair Restoration exam. MHR doctors are required to have enough experience to qualify for the test, or they must go through MHR’s extensive and lengthy, ISHRS approved fellowship program (the largest in the country). Our physicians have the unique opportunity to study and learn from their colleagues (some of the best in the world), and then use that training to deliver world class results. This collegial environment extends far beyond the fellowship and is one of the reasons working as a professional in a large group is so appealing.

Physician technical skills though are not enough. MHR expects its doctors to have the interpersonal skills to match their technical ability. Our physician screening, and training process is one of many ways that MHR ensures our most important team members, our patients, are extremely well taken care of.
In addition to our doctor training, our staff members are rigorously trained and monitored to ensure that each MHR employee is working at the highest possible level.

Prospective patients that meet me often ask, “Why should I come to you?” The answer is simple. A patients choose to come to me because they believe I will do what I say, they are comfortable with the approach I will take, and they are confidant I will use the latest, and best techniques for their surgery. This is also the reason that thousands of patients continually choose MHR and their team of highly trained and highly skilled doctors.

Every day we all make decisions as to what individuals we wish to associate with. When you meet with a doctor or MHR representative, apply your same good judgment to the selection process. Once you factor in the training, guarantee, teamwork , and the knowledge that the people at MHR are just good people to work with… it might be an easier decision than you think.
