Women have hair loss problems too!

June 2nd, 2009

A few weeks ago I had dinner with an old friend of mine, a beautiful lady who is suffering from hair loss. (It is incredible to hear some of the facts related to women and hair loss – around 25-30 million women suffer from alopecia.) While we were at the restaurant I noticed that she was uncomfortable and little embarrassed surrounded by so many people, even though she is a very attractive woman. She was constantly trying to fix her hair, making sure that her thinning area was not noticeable.

She was an old friend of mine so talking about the hair loss was nothing unusual, especially after my hair restoration. But I know for most women suffering from hair loss, talking about this issue is not easy…and for some not an option at all. But trust me ladies, you can solve this problem and you can feel beautiful again. And it all starts with talking in private about your specific situation with a Patient Education Director at MHR.

“How is the procedure performed? Is it painful? Will it work for me?” Those were the questions my friend asked me when I told her about Medical Hair Restoration (MHR) and the procedure I had undergone to restore my hair. After I pulled out an old before photo, she could see the amazing results of my hair transplant right on the spot. She couldn’t believe how natural and undetectable my hair line looked. And after further studying the old before photo, she also complimented me for subsequently losing weight (another life-changing benefit after my procedure).

Women Hair Loss

While talking to her about hair transplantation, of course the word ‘surgery’ surfaced time and again…which got her edgy and worried. So I talked openly about my experience with Dr. Leavitt and his team of technicians. “Part of my hair was taken from back of my head (the donor area) and placed at locations on my hairline and at the crown of the head where I was balding and thinning. It was my natural hair that is now growing back again. It’s as simple as that!” I even asked her to try and locate the “suture line”, the line from where the donor hair was taken – of course, she was unsuccessful.

In the days following our dinner, I couldn’t stop thinking about her specific hair loss situation. Then I remembered that there was a book about women’s hair loss written by Dr. Leavitt, so I called my friend and recommended she check it out. The book is called “Hair Loss and Women; A Comprehensive Resource on Women’s Hair Loss”.

Fast forward to now. I saw her againjust yesterday in the grocery store. She told me that after reading the book she visited our local Medical Hair Restoration office for a free consultation and scalp analysis with the Patient Education Director and the Doctor. The Doctor said that she was a candidate for a hair restoration procedure. She was elated with the idea of having more thickness and density in the area where she was currently thinning. And even though her procedure date is still a week away, she was already all smiles. I could see that her life was going to change forever and that her confidence would soon be back to where it was before she started experiencing hair loss. Oh, do I remember that feeling! The next time we have dinner, I surmise that I will be dining with a whole different woman.

MHR All Star patient, Dwight Evans, and myself at the David Maus Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament

May 27th, 2009

At this annual Charity Golf Tournament I was able to reunite with some of the famed sports celebrities that have become MHR All Star patients throughout the years. Pictured here is my good friend Dwight Evans, an 8-time Gold Glove winner who played for the Red Sox and Orioles. Throughout his 20 year career, Dwight came to be known as one of the best defensive outfielders of his day.

Fight and Get Your Hair Back!

May 25th, 2009

"Мan will not only endure, but he will prevail“. I come upon this quote from William Faulkner, Nobel prize-winning author. It is a marvelous quote, but the word Faulkner missed, I think, is "fight".

When I was losing hair, I prevailed and got my hair back. But it didn’t go without a fight. I endured my share of life with lack of self-esteem and I struggled with my alopecia. My life is valuable. It is the most serious business I have dealt and I am dealing with.  :)

That’s why I decided to get hair transplantation surgery. I wanted to live by my rules and not to feel depressed or worried about my hair. I wanted to think about different hair style, not lying myself with wearing hats to cover my hair loss. Faulkner’s inspiring quote made me think about the age in which we live in. Men, as well as women, have been losing hair for so long… But we found a way to get our hair back. We prevailed. We found technological solutions to our life problems.

It may be REVVup Hair Therapy for those with hair loss categorized by Norwood scale as 1 or 2, or in other words not severe hair loss that is in early stage. Or it may be a permanent solution like hair transplantation for those who have already lost their hair. I was in this category. I was bald at the crown of my head. And hair loss was still continuing. My falling hair was making me feel depressed and my lifestyle was changing to something I wasn’t comfortable with.

Hair Loss Fight

But the decision to restore my hair was a long one, although now looking back at it, I wish I did the hair transplantation surgery earlier. Back then I struggled to get myself motivated about that permanent solution. The first step was to get informed about alopecia. I consulted the doctors at MHR. Their advice and expertise gave me more confidence and motivation to undergo the surgery that changed my life.

And you know what? Thanks to improved use of follicular unit hair grafts and thanks to the doctors at MHR I really got my hair back!

We live in a wonderful technological age that we created. No matter what we are faced with we will prevail, as Faulkner says in his truly inspiring Nobel Prize speech. But not without a fight, not without a motivation to change our lives from uncomfortable to the lifestyle we want.

Start thinking about your hair. Go to Medical Hair Restoration’s site, schedule free hair loss consultations and learn how to restore your hair, get the free DVD, and meet the people who have changed their lives and start living yours as someone who has stopped enduring. Start living as one who has prevailed. Go and get your hair back!

Selecting a hair restoration physician and company

May 19th, 2009

Choosing a doctor for general medical care is difficult. Selecting a doctor who will permanently change your appearance is even harder. Compound that selection process with the information–and sadly often times disinformation on the internet—and picking a Hair Restoration Surgeon can feel overwhelming.

Hair restoration is a unique field of medicine for any number of reasons. To truly accomplish a world class hair restoration requires a highly trained team of individuals from start to finish. The doctors, nurses, and assistants all need to work in unison to create a work of art. The fact is, most residencies (where doctors specialize in their chosen field) do not teach hair restoration. It is so specialized; doctors need to seek out the training.

Some Doctors will take a weekend course, but others, recognizing the inadequacy of that approach will choose another path. At MHR the path to becoming a full time Surgeon is not an easy one. Every single MHR doctor is qualified to sit for, or has already taken the American Board of Hair Restoration exam. MHR doctors are required to have enough experience to qualify for the test, or they must go through MHR’s extensive and lengthy, ISHRS approved fellowship program (the largest in the country). Our physicians have the unique opportunity to study and learn from their colleagues (some of the best in the world), and then use that training to deliver world class results. This collegial environment extends far beyond the fellowship and is one of the reasons working as a professional in a large group is so appealing.

Physician technical skills though are not enough. MHR expects its doctors to have the interpersonal skills to match their technical ability. Our physician screening, and training process is one of many ways that MHR ensures our most important team members, our patients, are extremely well taken care of.
In addition to our doctor training, our staff members are rigorously trained and monitored to ensure that each MHR employee is working at the highest possible level.

Prospective patients that meet me often ask, “Why should I come to you?” The answer is simple. A patients choose to come to me because they believe I will do what I say, they are comfortable with the approach I will take, and they are confidant I will use the latest, and best techniques for their surgery. This is also the reason that thousands of patients continually choose MHR and their team of highly trained and highly skilled doctors.

Every day we all make decisions as to what individuals we wish to associate with. When you meet with a doctor or MHR representative, apply your same good judgment to the selection process. Once you factor in the training, guarantee, teamwork , and the knowledge that the people at MHR are just good people to work with… it might be an easier decision than you think.

Hair Loss Myths – The Real Cover-up

April 29th, 2009

If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a thousand times. Everyone I talk to who’s re-grown their hair permanently just like me all say the same thing…”I wish I’d done it sooner.” And for me, when I was losing my hair the one thing that kept me from seeking out the permanent solution sooner was actually many things: all the myths about hair loss. The “Hair loss comes from your mother only” myth. The “wearing hats myth.” The “Lotions and Potions” myths. Or my personal favorite, the “Cutting your hair will actually make your hair grow” myth. All these myths kept me from seeking out the truth and finding the facts. And it was these powerful facts that led me once and for all the MHR…and the permanent solution of hair restoration.

Listening to those myths while I was losing my hair gave me false hope and later made me feel depressed. But the fact is – those were fiction and alopecia for me was a fact. My hair problem started at early age when I was proud of my hair. But it was receding fast. And when you start losing hair it will not stop unless you do something about it.

But before I could start researching solutions, I had to do my due diligence and research the facts about why I was losing my hair. The day I received my DVD from MHR was the day I finally opened my eyes. No more false promises. No more hollow hopes. The information revealed the truth about why I was losing my hair and what I had to expect. And it wasn’t good.

MHR USA Hair Loss Clinic

And then when I went in for my consultation, it was all out on the table. The MHR patient education director  used a video microscope which magnified my scalp 50-times. While watching the TV monitor, he showed me a side-by-side comparison of my healthy hair and my balding areas. It showed me exactly what I had to look forward to as the progression worsened. I call this my “worst and first day”! The “worst” because it mapped out how much hair loss I really had. “First” because it was the first day of the rest of my life—the day I decided to re-grow it permanently with hair restoration from MHR. And the rest is hair loss history.

So if you’re losing your hair and you find yourself in denial, hanging on to all the myths and false promises, I strongly urge you to get the facts about hair loss and the facts about what your true options are. It may be your worst day, but you’ll be excited to know that it will be the first day of the rest of your life—the day you started ending your hair loss and re-growing it permanently.

Go to MHRusa.com and start your research there. Get your FREE DVD and schedule your free hair and scalp analysis. It will change your life just like it did mine.

When it comes to your career, confidence is the key

April 22nd, 2009

Ahhh, the Great Recession. Millions are losing their jobs which means millions are searching for new ones. For every position you’re after, there are 10 other guys vying for the same interview. Some are younger. Some are older. Some went to ivy-league schools, some cut their teeth on the street. But the one attribute that is more powerful than any listing on any resume, more striking than any thousand dollar Italian suit, is raw confidence. And as I’ve said many times, the absolute worst part about being bald for me was the lack of confidence.

In these harsh times, when the economy is sucking wind, the best investment you could ever make is to invest in yourself and gain the confidence to land that new job or promotion.

Hair Transplantation

Before I re-grew my hair permanently, I can remember standing in front of the mirror as a balding guy in his 30’s before a sales presentation and second guessing absolutely everything. My clothes. My presentation. Myself. And looking back, I have no doubt that my lack of confidence was noticed in each and every meeting. I can also remember how my demeanor, delivery, and frankly, the dollars changed after I had a thick head of hair again. I landed new contracts, new career advancements, and tons of compliments with the meetings I attended. Confidence was the x-factor that I never realized I was missing until I got it back. Confidence changed my career, my personal life, and my lifestyle altogether.

The doctors at MHR helped me restore the confidence I lost. The hair transplantation made it possible for me to live without the burden of worrying about my hair and finally look ahead to conquering my career goals. It was probably the only investment I have ever made that literally paid for itself after probably two sales presentations. The promotions and bonuses that followed were all gravy from there. I’m not discounting a solid resume, or a nice suit for that matter, but nothing makes you stand out against your competition more than confidence. For me, looking and feeling younger was the key to my success.

Laying it on thick about hair loss.

April 1st, 2009

Hi – my name is Bobby Karegianes and welcome to my own personal hair loss blog. Believe it or not – about fifteen years ago – I was a bald guy. It’s true! I was out of shape, overweight and looking and feeling much older than I really was. Not fun at all – and if you’re going through it yourself you know exactly what I’m talking about – it sucks! Hair loss seemed even more devastating to me because I actually used to get compliments on my hair when I was younger – now it was going, going FAST and I really didn’t know what I could do about it.

After several years of trying products that were nothing more than empty promises and a hair system that didn’t fit with my active lifestyle, I sought out the natural and permanent solution of hair transplantation with the leaders at Medical Hair Restoration. When I actually saw the work that the MHR Doctor was performing, and the fact that it was the perfect marriage of my own permanent, natural hair transplanted in such a natural way that no one could ever tell I’d ever lost a hair, I KNEW this was for me!

The procedure was simple, within a year my hair grew in and I was back to cutting it, combing it and styling it just the way I wanted. Even growing it out long as you’ll see in some of my videos and pictures here. Bottom line: this was one of the best investments I ever made in my life – because it was an investment in me and my future. If you’re losing your hair and want it back – this is the way to go!

“Not a day goes by that I don’t think
about this miracle on my head.”
